rewatched â €Superman (2025)â € with my friends after craving a rewatch for quite a bit ! it brought a feeling akin to hope seeing so many posts about all these different people coming together to talk about how superman was what they needed in life at that moment and that it was a reminder to be kind-- and you could always argue: "it shouldn't take a movie for someone to be kind."

but honestly? we are in such an â €empathy droughtâ € as of late, especially due to the horrific echo chambers of social media that i believe james gunn was the best person they could've asked to direct a movie that revolves around implementing themes of this matter in an impactful way.

his track record for creating masterful pieces of art that, even if it's not the main premise of the story, are at some point about adult(s) working to be more than their childhood trauma and set out to be a much better person than their (biological) parents is quite unmatched.

(peacemaker included! one of my current favorite shows at the moment...)

for anyone that knows me, they know that â €Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2â € is one of my favorite movies of all time - and that's not an exaggeration. i saw that movie in theaters at least over 5 times when it was showing, and not to mention my poor dvd copy is so worn down at this point.
i've always stood on the firm belief that despite it's flaws, it's my favorite in the trilogy for both the love put into it and for this tweet by gunn that i always talk about when discussing the movie in more than a 'it's really good and i think i might blow up' perspective upon a rewatch

"for me, [vol. 1] is about learning to love others and [vol. 2] is about learning to allow others to love you[...]"

when you take this into account with superman, even for those that don't have such traumas or may not see it as such, gunn has been able to implement it in ways that are impactful to the viewer no matter what. you can find my full, and current favorite review that i've written of vol. 2 at the link listed- going much more in depth about how much this movie means to me than i could rewrite in this entry.

for a few life updates as of today,

â €*â € i've found out how to get custom videos to work on my dvd player (and in turn started making custom dvds)

â €*â € started playing final fantasy 14 again, currently on the free trial so there are quite a few things im limited to but i'm not upset as i still have so much of the game left before needing to worry about a subscription!
